Box Score MOBILE, Ala. – The Belhaven women's basketball team dropped to 8-13 overall and 2-9 in the Southern States Athletic Conference after suffering a 56-40 defeat at the hands of the University of Mobile on Thursday night. With the victory, the 24th ranked Rams improved to 16-4 overall, 10-2 in SSAC play, and 10-1 on their home floor.

"Our girls executed the gameplan well, and this was one of our best games all year," Head Coach Rusty Cram said. "We held this team to 25 points under their average, and we have gotten better the last couple games."
Ariel Wilson led all scorers with 23 points, while senior forward
Erika LeFlore followed with 11 of her own.
Kenya Wright was able to pull down nine rebounds for a game high.
Raven Lyons paced the University of Mobile, contributing 17 points, including a perfect 6 of 6 from the free throw line. Alicia Curry and Kierra Anderson each grabbed seven rebounds.
Belhaven was out-rebounded 47-30, and the Rams connected on 40% from behind the three-point line. Both teams shot 50% from the charity stripe, though Mobile won the turnover battle by a tally of 20-16.
Both squads posted a 35% marking from the field, but the Rams launched 23 more shots than their Belhaven counterparts. Mobile's bench outscored that of their guests by a marking of 36-3.
Belhaven returns to SSAC action on Saturday, when they will play host to Western division rival William Carey University. Tipoff is slated for 2:00 pm from Rugg Arena.
"We have to beat the teams near us in the standings and surprise some teams near the top," Cram said. "We'll look for some of the same things on Saturday, and we'll give them all we have."
