Box Score JACKSON, Miss. – The Belhaven women's basketball team picked up a non-conference victory Tuesday night, defeating Dillard University by a final of 62-52 at Rugg Arena. "We didn't shoot the ball particularly well, but we knocked down enough shots to give us some breathing room," Head Coach Rusty Cram said. "Any time you hold somebody to 52 points, you're doing something right."

TaShayla Steede and Ariel Wilson paced the Blazers offense, leading all scorers with 15 points apiece. Steede finished her evening as the team's leader in rebounds as well, just one away from a double-double.

Dillard's Kierrariel Mitchell, who pulled down a game best 10 rebounds, was the only player who topped Steede on the glass. Mitchell added a team-high 11 points, while Keylantra Taylor followed with nine of her own.

As a team, Belhaven out-rebounded their guests 50-42, while also taking the advantage at the charity stripe. Dillard shot 10 of 21 from the line, while the Blazers posted a 17-28 mark. With the victory, Belhaven swept the home-and-home season series against Dillard.

The Blazers will return to Southern States Athletic Conference Action on Thursday, when they are set to play host to Martin Methodist University. Tipoff is slated for 5:30 pm from Rugg Arena.

"We are in a do-or die situation in the conference and we still have a long way to go," Cram said. "Martin Methodist is a great team and they will be a challenge for us Thursday, but hopefully we can play well and find a way to get a conference win."
