Box Score MARSHALL, Texas – A week removed from their season opening victory over Talladega College, the Belhaven women's soccer team picked up right where they left off. A 3-0 victory over Wiley College made the drive to Texas worthwhile as the Blazers improved to 2-0.
"We got a result that we needed on the road. I think this win gives our girls the confidence to face our next opponent," Head Coach
Josue Sabillon said. "Overall, this was a great experience for us as team tonight and I expect it to continue into tomorrow."
Laura Quintero received her first assist of the season when
Saje Pernie found the back of the net for the first time this year. Later in the match, Pernie returned the favor, assisting on Quintero's second goal of her sophomore campaign.
Fran Glenny rounded out the scoring for the Blazers after an assist from
Chelsea DeLeon. Glenny already has five goals in her first two collegiate games.
"Fran has had some injuries early on, but I have been pleased with her performance so far," Sabillon said. "We are very glad to have her on our side."
The Blazers will return to action Saturday evening, taking on East Texas Baptist University. The match is slated for 5:00, and live stats can be found at blazers.belhaven.edu.
