"Teams are making us play a game we don't want to play, and points are at a premium," Head Coach Rusty Cram said. "We're doubting ourselves on the offensive end, and that is causing us to adjust on the fly."
Ariel Wilson led Belhaven's scoring attack with 14 points, while fellow guard
Kenya Wright finished her night with 13. Senior forward
Erika LeFlore added nine points while recording a team-high 13 rebounds, just missing her fifth double-double of the season.
The Warhawks brought only seven players on the road trip from Montgomery but still saw three players in double figures. Tina Odume paved the way with 14 points, tied with Wilson for a game best. Katie Williams and Marren Schwartz added 10 apiece, while Schwartz grabbed 14 rebounds to lead all players.
Belhaven's guests outshot the Blazers from the field 34% to 27% while also winning the battle on the glass by a total of 56 to 38. Belhaven went to the free throw line 19 times, connecting on 13 of them, while the Warhawks converted 7-17 from the charity stripe.
The Blazers return to action on Saturday afternoon, when they host Emmanuel College in SSAC play. Tipoff is slated for 2:00 pm at Rugg Arena.
"When we were scoring 60 a game, we were doing everything right," Cram said. "We have to get back to fundamentals, and we have to play with more heart than we have in our last couple of games."
