Box Score WEST POINT, Ga.- After getting off to hot start and holding a lead in the first half, the Belhaven women's basketball team dropped the season opener on the road at Point University Friday evening.
Although the Blazers failed to hold off the Skyhawks, senior
Erika LeFlore paced Belhaven with a dominant 17 points and 11 rebounds. LeFlore led all players in both categories and was also the only player to notch a double –double on the night.
The Blazers were unable to keep the offensive momentum going while the Skyhawks found their game in the second half. Point outscored the Blazers 36-23 in the final 20 minutes after trailing at halftime 26-17.
"We did some good things, but we have to learn to read defenses and attack," said Head Coach Rusty Cram. "We have to learn each other's strengths, but we are better today than we were yesterday."

Ariel Wilson finished just shy of a double -double with nine points and nine rebounds. Junior Kenyan Wright added eight points and five rebounds on the night.
Point University's Alex Tucker paced the Skyhawks with 16 points and five rebounds. Dereese Owens dropped in 12 points.
The Blazers were unable to capitalize on the Point's mistakes and added some of their own finishing, with 28 turnovers on the night.
"You can't rush inexperience; it just takes time to mature. We took a big step forward tonight," said Cram.
The Blazers take the court against Morris College (S.C.) Saturday at 12pm in West Point, Ga.
