Coaches: Joe Thrasher (Belhaven-5th Season), Danny Cronic (Reinhardt-1st Season)

Series vs. Reinhardt (0-0): This will be the first meeting between the two teams since this is the inaugural season of the Reinhardt football program.

Quick Stat: Kicker Alonso Acosta, a freshman from Houston, TX, made a single game career high four field goals while drilling four extra points on four attempts last week. Acosta scored the first nine points for Belhaven in the game and 16 overall, setting the tone for the rest of the contest. He also did an outstanding job on kickoffs, driving two deep into the end zone for touchbacks. Acosta is 9-for-10 on field goals this season and owns eight touchbacks on kickoffs. Acosta was named the MSC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance.

Acosta ranks among the top kickers in the MSC and in the NAIA through the first six games of the season. He is second in the MSC in total points (43), is second in the NAIA in field goal makes, and ranks sixth in the nation in kicker scoring.

Player to Watch: Senior linebacker Darius Wren is the player to watch this week for Belhaven. Wren provided a much need spark to the defense in Belhaven's victory last week. Wren was a force with a pair of interceptions and eight tackles. Wren and the Blazers held Bluefield to 42 yards rushing and 282 total yards.

With Belhaven leading 16-7 in the third quarter, Wren picked off his second pass of the game and returned it 35 yards for a touchdown. It put the momentum on Belhaven's side and was the catalyst for an eventual 33-7 lead that Bluefield could not overcome. Wren leads the Blazers with 47 tackles, 7 tackles for a loss, and is second on the team in interceptions.

Tale of the Tape: The Eagles are a solid team on offense and average 432.5 yards per game coming into the weekend. The strength of the offensive unit is the rushing attack that boasts a 250.7 yards per game average, 6th best in the NAIA. Reinhardt keeps opposing defenses honest with a passing game that produces 181.8 yards per contest.

Belhaven hopes that last week's 456 yard performance will carry over into this week's game. The Blazers enter the weekend averaging 326.8 yards per game and are very balanced between the run and the pass. Belhaven averages 141.2 yards per game rushing compared to 185.7 through the air.

Key to the Contest: Belhaven's defense held Bluefield to 42 yards rushing last week and slowing down the Reinhardt ground game will be crucial for a win this week. The Blazers got contributions from a number of different players and it will take another solid team effort to stop the Eagles. On the other side of the ball, if the offense can sustain some drives and keep the Reinhardt offense on the sidelines, the Blazers will increase their chances for a win this weekend.
