JACKSON, Miss-The Belhaven football team will kick off the 2012 season in Williamsburg, KY on Saturday against the University of the Cumberlands. The Blazers and Patriots have met up in each of the last two seasons and this weekend's game will be the 11th in the all-time series. Cumberlands came out on top last year 58-0, but Belhaven leads the series 6-4.

Cumberlands is ranked 19th in the NAIA Coaches' Preseason Top 25 Poll and one of three top 25 teams Belhaven will face in the first four weeks of the year. The Blazers will play 22nd ranked Cumberland (TN) and 25th ranked Campbellsville (KY) in weeks three and four respectively. The early season gauntlet will be a strong test and good gauge on where the team stands.
