BARBOURVILLE, Ky.-The Belhaven men's soccer team showed off its offensive firepower on Friday afternoon blanking Georgetown College 6-0 in the 2012 season opener. Junior
Will Monsour turned in a hat trick, scoring his first of three goals 30 seconds into the match. The Blazers remained in control the rest of the afternoon.
“I was really proud of the guys today,” said Head Coach Brian McMahon. “After a long drive and late night getting in, I was pleased with the attitude of the guys and their approach to the game. It was big for us to get off to a good start and pick up a quality win in the season opener.”
Sophomore
Victor Lawrence increased Belhaven's lead to 2-0 when he played the ball into the back of the net off a deflected free kick in the sixth minute. Georgetown (0-1) held the Blazers back for the rest of the first half, but then it was Monsour who cranked up the Belhaven (1-0) attack with his second goal of the match in minute 53. Senior
Loic Miliani, who setup Monsour's first goal with an assist, added a helping hand again by feeding the ball to Monsour on a free run 10 yards from the net.
Monsour tallied the hat trick in the 66th minute on an unassisted breakaway goal to make it a 4-0 contest. Lawarence notched his second goal of the afternoon in the 69th minute off an assist by junior

Paul Tanguy capped the day on a goal with four seconds remaining to finish the game.
The majority of game was played on the Georgetown side of the field as evidenced by Belhaven's 28-4 advantage in total shots. Junior goalkeeper
Carl Blundell and sophomore
Camilo Solarte combined on the shutout. Blundell was credited with the win as he logged 75 minutes in front of the net. Neither Blundell nor Solarte needed to make a save.
Aldo Torres, Ryan Whatley, Hunter Conner, and Zach Henson had the only shot attempts for the Tigers. Stefan Iverson suffered the loss in net for Georgetown.
