Box Score vs. AUM Box Score vs. Brenau
COLUMBUS, Ga.-The Belhaven softball team saw the 2012 season come to a close on Friday, losing twice in the Southern States Athletic Conference tournament in Columbus, GA. The Blazers were shutout by Auburn-Montgomery in game one of the day 5-0 and lost in the loser's bracket to Brenau University 2-1. Belhaven won both its games on Thursday defeating Emmanuel 5-2 and Lee University 7-1.
Belhaven (25-24) fell behind after an inning in game one 1-0, but let a scoring opportunity go by the boards in the third when they loaded the bases with nobody out. Brandi Richards induced a pair of fielder's choices and got a strikeout to get out the inning that set the tone for the rest of the game. The Warhawks added one more in the fourth and three in the fifth to pull away for the win.

Taylor Bryan led the Blazers with two hits against AUM followed by left fielder
Jessica Paris and right fielder
Kayla Maldonado with one hit each.
Shelby Watson suffered the loss in the circle allowing five runs on seven hits in 4.2 innings. Haley Johnson had two hits and two RBI's for the Warkhawks and Richards pitched all seven innings for the win.
Belhaven fought back from a 1-0 deficit in the second game against Brenau and tied it up on an RBI single by catcher
Katie Sanders in the sixth. Unfortunately, the Blazers were unable to grab the advantage leaving runners stranded on second and third. Relief pitcher Anna Maness struck out
Jordan Adams and then got Maldonado to ground out to end the inning. The Tigers then plated the game winner in the seventh when shortstop Taylor Kelley scored on a wild pitch with the bases loaded.
Sanders had a hit and one RBI to lead Belhaven's offense. Bryan,
Lizzy Hess, Fairley, and Carr all had on hit apiece and
Joyce Smith scored the lone Blazer run.
Jessica Paris pitched 6.1 innings and took the loss in the circle dropping her record to 10-9 for the season.
Tiffany Schandera doubled in a run in the second and had the only Tigers RBI in the game. Anna Maness earned the win in relief pitching the final 1.2 innings of the contest.
Belhaven ends the 2012 season at 25-24 and looks forward to a promising 2013 campaign.
