MONTGOMERY, Ala.-The Belhaven softball team opened up the Southern States Athletic Conference schedule on Tuesday night sweeping a doubleheader at 13th ranked Auburn University-Montgomery. The Blazers, ranked 6th in the Preseason NAIA Top 25 Poll, rallied for a 7-2 victory in game one followed by a 2-0 shutout in the second game.
The Blazers fell behind 2-0 in the first inning of game one when Auburn-Montgomery (10-6, 0-2 SSAC) generated two runs from a single by leftfielder Driggers and a sacrifice fly by Sarah Suggs. In the top of the fourth, the Blazers bounced back with their first tally of the game when 
Taylor Bryan rounded in a run on a fielding error by Warhawks second baseman Johnson. 
Lizzy Hess then tied the game up 2-2 in the top of the fifth with a single to center field brining in 
Jordan Adams for the run.
The Blazers had a huge sixth inning getting into a rhythm by scoring five runs off of five hits. 
CeCee Austin scored on a fielder's choice to put the Blazers up 3-2 and the Adams hit a single to left rounding in 
Shelby Watson and 
Katie Sanders for two more Blazer runs. A triple by 
Taylor Bryan put the blazers out front 6-2 allowing Adams to score. Hess finished the inning off with a single chasing in Bryan for the run to make it a 7-2 game. The sixth proved to be the winning frame as AUM failed to score in its final six outs.
Belhaven (10-4, 2-0 SSAC) had two hits each in the first game from Hess and Bryan. Hess also drove in two runs and Bryan also picked up an RBI. Second baseman 
Jordan Adams recorded one hit and chased home two runs followed by catcher 
Katie Sanders with a double and one run batted in. 
Bayleigh Babin went the distance in the circle holding the Warhawks to two unearned runs on four hits with two walks and two strikeouts. The victory for Babin runs her record to 5-1 on the season.
Jyssica Peppers carried the Warhawks with two hits while Laci Driggers managed one RBI. Brandi Richards was served with the loss in this contest giving up eight and seven runs.
In game two, it took Belhaven three innings before getting things started in the top of the fourth, scoring a run when 
Courtney Fairley hit a SAC fly to plate Hess for a 1-0 lead. The Blazers notched their second run of the contest on a fly out by 
Annalee Carr to rounding in 
Emily Tucker for the second run. Belhaven posted the only two runs of the contest on two hits en route to a 2-0 win.
Right fielder 
Kayla Maldonado had one of Belhaven's two hits and Hess picked up the other to go along with one run scored. Third baseman 
Annalee Carr had one of the two RBI's while shortstop 
Courtney Fairley had the other. Both runs were driven in on sacrifice fly balls. 
Jessica Paris pitched a complete game for Belhaven shutting out AUM on four hits. Her record in the circle improved to 3-1 with the victory. Cassie Daniels pitched all seven innings for the Warhawks allowing two hits and two runs. Sarah Suggs led the Warhawks in hits with two of their four.
Belhaven will now head to Gulf Shores, Alabama to compete in the Gulf Coast Invitational. Belhaven is set to play Friday March 9th against Martin Methodist at 12:00 PM and the University of Houston-Victoria at 4:00 PM.
