JACKSON, Miss.-The Belhaven softball team spilt a doubleheader with LSU-Alexandria at McLeod Field on Wednesday afternoon losing game one 8-7 while coming back to take the second game 4-2. The Blazers, ranked 6th in the NAIA Preseason Top 25 Poll, run their season record to 2-3.
Game One
Belhaven let one slip away in game one as LSU-Alexandria erased a 5-0 deficit with two runs in the sixth and sixth in the seventh to pull out the win. The Blazers pulled out in front in the third inning on a

Jordan Adams with two outs. In the fifth, Belhaven tacked on four more runs starting with a leadoff home run by Ashley Hitt over the fence in left.
Annalee Carr and
CeCee Austin got on base with two out singles and then came in on a three run blast by
Joyce Smith to make it a 5-0 game.
The Generals began their comeback bid in the sixth on an Amanda Harmon two run homer down the left field line to make it 5-2. In the seventh LSUA came up with six runs, with three coming on Harmon's second home run of the game, putting the Generals on top 8-5. Belhaven fought back in the bottom of the seventh on a two run bomb by Carr to left center, but then stranded the tying run on base to end the game.
Belhaven was led by Smith who went 2 for 2 with three runs batted in followed by Carr who was 2 for 3 with two runs batted in.
Lizzy Hess collected two hits and a run batted in and Ashley Hitt drove home a run on one hit. Pitcher
Jessica Paris started the game and went 6.2 innings allowing six runs on eight hits with two walks and six strikeouts. Paris sufferred the loss and falls to 0-1 in the circle this season.
Harmon was LSU-Alexandria's offensive catalyst in game one thanks to the two home runs and five runs batted in. Alyssa Kennedy went 3 for 4 at the plate with a couple of runs scored. Logan Hebert pitched a complete game allowing seven runs on 11 hits with six walks and four strikeouts.
Game Two
It was Belhaven's turn to rally in game two on Wednesday as the Blazers fell behind 2-0 after a half inning of play. The Generals went in front on a Harmon double to left field and then Mallory Waggoner singled home the second run on a base hit to left field. Belhaven scored all four of its runs in the bottom of the sixth beginning with an RBI single by
CeCee Austin followed by a single from
Courtney Fairley. Fairley was credited with two runs batted in and then she crossed the plate when the ball got away from Erin Compian in center field. Pitcher
Bayleigh Babin and the Belhaven defense shutdown the Generals in the top of the seventh to earn the win.
Fairley led the attack for Belhaven in game two collecting two hits and two RBI's. Hess was 2 for 3 at the dish with a run scored and Austin had a hit and a run batted in. Belhaven pounded out nine totals hits in Wednesday's second game. Babin fired all seven innings in the circle allowing two runs on six hits with four strikeouts. Babin permitted only two hits after the first inning as she goes to 1-1 on the season.
LSU-Alexandria had RBI hits from Harmon and Waggoner with Calla Willoughby, Kennedy, and Jessica Pocorello picking up one hit each. Kennedy pitched six innings for LSUA and took the loss giving up four runs on nine hits.
Belhaven will be back in action this weekend in the Belhaven Bash Tournament at McLeod Field with two games on Friday and two on Saturday. Game times and opponents are yet to be determined.
