CLINTON, Miss-The Belhaven men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Mississippi College/Watson Ford Invitational on Friday afternoon at Choctaw Trails. The Blazer men finished sixth out of seven teams while the women, due to injury, did not have enough runners to place as a team.

Thorburn McGee was the top runner for Belhaven on the men's side finishing 27th with a time of 30:37.16. Ben Storment followed McGee across the line in 31st with a time of 30:56.24. Matthew Fox, John Lane, and Andrew Sinclair trailed in 32nd, 37th, and 43rd places respectively. Andres Ramirez of Hendrix College won the event with a time of 27:09.54.  Hendrix took home the overall team honors as well.

Chloe Brown had a solid race for the Belhaven that resulted in a 17th place finish with a time of 27:40.70 in the 6k event. Sarah McCallister trailed Brown in 19th place, recording a time of 27:57.42. Sarah Rivera and Seraphine Lin crossed the line in 32nd and 38 places respectively. Jennifer Cooper of Mississippi College won the event with a time of 23:49.03, helping the Choctaws to a second place team finish.

Belhaven's men's and women's teams will be back on the course next Saturday October 13th at the Choctaw Open at Choctaw Trails.
