Jackson, MS- The Belhaven women's soccer gained their first Southern States Athletic Conference win of the season defeating Emmanuel College Friday afternoon at H.T. Newell Field 4-3. The Blazers picked up their third overall win earning them a season record of 3-4-1 and 1-1 in conference play.

Rebecca Ontero with the Blazers second goal in the 19th minute giving the Blazers a 2-0 advantage. Emmanuel College (5-2, 0-1 SSAC) got on the board on a penalty kick from Alexis Schultz in the 44th minute cutting the lead to 2-1.
Within the first two minutes of the second half,
Christin Kaim connected with the back of the net extending the Blazer lead to 3-1. The Lions answered with a score in the 61st minute off the foot of Alexis Schultz making the score 3-2.
Rebecca Ontero gained her second goal of the contest and her 6th of the season in the 77th minute boosting Belhaven's advantage back to two goals at 4-2. Emmanuel made one final push in the 84th minute thanks to a goal by Katie Harrell cutting the Blazers lead to one 4-3. However, the Lions couldn't muster any other goals as Belhaven held on for the 4-3 win.
The Blazers outshot the Lions 19-17 with 11 shots on-goal and four for scores.
Rebecca Ontero led the Blazers on the offensive end with three shot attempts and two goals.

Christin Kaim both finished with a goal apiece. Alexis Schultz led the Lions with three shot attempts and two goals. Katie Harrell had the only other goal for the Lions.
Nicole Walsh notched her third win of the season in net earning four saves while allowing three goals. Cyara Castillo dropped her second contest of the season for the Lions allowing four goals while gaining seven saves.
