Monticello, AK- The Belhaven volleyball team defeated NCAA Division II Arkansas-Monticello 3-0 Tuesday night. The Blazers took the decision over the Cotton-Blossoms with the final scores of 25-23, 25-21, and 25-18. The win boosts the Blazers season record to 8-1.

Belhaven (8-1) began the contest strong taking control of the match early by winning set one 25-23. Once the Blazers got things started by taking set one, they never looked back taking set two and three 25-21 and 25-18. The win is the fifth this season where the Blazers were able to win against their opponents in just three sets.

Christina Atwood paced the Blazers on Tuesday night with 12 kills and three digs. Four other Blazer players were able to get four kills apiece; Taylor Williams, Samantha O'Malley, Leigh Anne Huddleston, and Natalie Davis. Erin Bradley earned 22 more assists on the night bringing her season total to 228. Katherine Owen rounded up 11 digs on the night. As a team, the Blazers tallied 33 kills, 31 assists, and 44 digs.

Christina Rini and Mollie Cagle led the Cotton-Blossoms in kills with eight apiece. Allison Beardsley turned in 17 digs while Amy Bazemore got 26 assists in the match. As a team, the Cotton-Blossoms turned in 32 kills, 30 assists, and 40 digs.

The Blazers will look to stay hot as they take on Jackson State University Wednesday night at Jackson State. Game-time is set for 7:00PM.
