Blazers Record 1-0 Victory at Lee

Box Score
Cleveland, TN-The Belhaven men's soccer team rebounded with a 1-0 win at Lee University Saturday night in a Southern States Athletic Conference contest. The Blazers, ranked 5th in the latest NAIA Top 25 Poll, suffered their first loss of the season at Shorter University Friday afternoon, but regrouped on Saturday to earn a much needed victory.

Belhaven (9-1, 4-1 SSAC) recorded the only goal of the match courtesy of Guilherme Brandao who slammed his sixth goal of the season into the back of the net. Lee (6-4, 1-3 SSAC) had tried to clear the ball out of the zone, but Brandao prevented the clearing pass and instead put the Blazers in front in the 36th minute. Belhaven's defense made the goal stand up the rest of the way en route to the win.

Alex Rodriguez had the most looks at the goal on the night for Belhaven attempting five total shots followed by Achille Campion who had four shots with three being on goal. The Blazers outshot Lee 22-12 in the match.

Lee (6-4, 1-3 SSAC) was led on offense by Josh Ball who attempted five shots including three on goal. Chevon Roberts ended the night with two shots for the Flames.

Camilo Solarte made his first start of the season in goal for Belhaven and came away with the win thanks in part to four saves on the night. Benjamin Perez played all 90 minutes in goal for Lee and made three saves.

Belhaven will take the field again on Friday when they host Southern Wesleyan University in an SSAC cross division game at 2:00 PM. The Blazers will then take on Truett-McConnell College on Saturday night at 7:00 PM.
