Blazers Keep Rolling with Win over Mid-America Christian

Jackson, MS-The Belhaven men's soccer team ran their record to 4-0 on Monday thanks to a 2-0 win over Mid-America Christian University Monday on day two of the LSU-Shreveport Invitational. It was the third shutout in four games for the Blazers who have shutdown their opponents through the first four games of the year.

Stefan Fernandez got Belhaven on the board late in the first half with his third goal of the season in the 40th minute. Aaron McLoughlin set up the score on his first assist of the 2010 season. That would prove to be the only goal the Blazers would need, but Guilherme Brandao added another goal for good measure in the 57th minute to extend the lead to 2-0. For Brandao it was his third goal tying him with Fernandez and Alex Rodriguez for the team lead. All three also lead the Blazers in points with seven. As a team, Belhaven outshot Mid-America Christian 15-3.

Gautier Troch ran his record to 4-0 with his third shutout of the season. Troch made one save and only faced three shots the entire match. Arturo Alcala had the only three shots and shot on goal for Mid-America Christian. Austin Custar took the loss for Mid-America Christian in net allowing two goals while making three saves.

Belhaven will return to the field when they battle Oklahoma City University Friday afternoon at 12:30 PM in the John Brown University Tournament.
