Blazers Blank John Brown University

Siloam Springs, AR-For the fourth time in six games this season the Belhaven men's soccer team pitched a shutout in a 2-0 win at John Brown University on Saturday afternoon. Opponents have managed to score only two goals against goalkeeper Gautier Troch and the stingy Blazer defense.

Belhaven (6-0) scored both of their goals in the first half of Saturday's match setting the tone early. Will Monsour put the Blazers on the board with his second goal of the season in as many days in the 37th minute. Monsour worked his way into the box and blasted a shot past John Brown (2-2) goalkeeper Pablo Gracia. Just about four minutes later Chris Cave connected on a his first goal of the 2010 season thanks to a bomb on the left side of the field from 30 yards out.

The goals by Monsour and Cave would be all the Blazers would need en route to the win. Belhaven dominated the match outshooting John Brown 19-9 with a nine to six differential in shots on goal in favor of the Blazers. On the season as a team, Belhaven has outshot opponents 126-50. Troch played all 90:00 minutes in net for Belhaven and turned away six JBU shots. Troch is 6-0 in net this season and has posted all four shutout wins. Garcia gave up two goals for John Brown while making seven saves.

Belhaven will hit the road again on Tuesday afternoon as the travel to Jackson, TN to meet up with Lambuth University. The kickoff is slated for 4:00 PM.
