Clinton, MS- The Belhaven men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Mississippi College Choctaw opener on Saturday morning. The Blazer women finished in second place out of eight teams while the men finished fourth out of six teams. The women logged a team time of 1:58:40.18 in the 5k run while the men logged a time of 2:12:15.37 in the four mile run. The host school Mississippi College won the event on the women's side with a team time of 1:47:25.37 and Mississippi College won out on the men's side as well logging a team time of 1:52:43.26.

The Blazers were led by Hannah Reese who finished 3rd out of forty four runners recording a time of 20:49.69. Crossing the finish line next was Sarah Storment who finished in 9th place with a time of 21:49.87 followed by Sarah McCallister (18th), Jackie Bateman (28th) and Chellese Hall (30th). It was Belhaven's highest team finish so far this season.

Peter Davis was the top finisher for the men finishing 11th out of 40 runners logging a time of 24:31.63. Luke Lennon directly followed Davis in the 12th position with a time of 24:38.87. Lennon was followed by Robert Ricks (20th), Andrew Sinclair (27th), and Michael Hawkins (30th).

Belhaven will hit the course again on Saturday October 23rd in the Southeastern Classic hosted by Berry College in Rome, GA at 9:00 AM.
