Game One

It took some time for both offenses's to get going in game one with neither side getting on the board through the first two innings. LSU-Alexandria was the first to crack the scoreboard in the top of the third with an unearned run due to a pair of Belhaven errors. Emmalea Dugas reached base on a misplayed grounder by Salina Cervantes and came home to score on a sacrifice fly by Sloane Laiche.

The Lady Blazers responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning on one hit and an LSUA miscue in the field. Jessica Eggold reached base on an error by Blayke Hanks to lead off the inning. Following a pop out by Heather Pace, Mallory Meadows stepped to the plate and blasted her 9th home run of the season to make the score 2-1 Belhaven.

Belhaven added another pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth on three hits in the inning. Clarissa Williams got things going with a single and with one out Kayla Maldonado picked up a base hit with Williams being awarded home on a fielder's obstruction. Jessica Eggold brought home Maldonado on a base hit accounting for the second run of the inning extending the Lady Blazer lead to 4-1.

The Lady Generals fought back for two runs in the top of the fifth, but Belhaven answered with another run in the bottom of the inning. Pace reached base on an error by outfielder Lauren Brossett and came home on a single by Meadows to put the Lady Blazers up 5-3. Starting pitcher Salina Cervantes made the lead stand up closing the door on LSUA the rest of the way to secure the win.

Cervantes pitched all seven innings surrendering four hits and three unearned to go to 8-4 on the year. Meadows had 3 RBI's on three hits to lead the Belhaven offense. Eggold was also credited with an RBI.

Game Two

In game two, Belhaven jumped in front early by getting their first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning. Britney Webb reached second base on an error by Laiche and went to third on a ground out by Eggold. Webb then came home on a passed ball by catcher Andrea Langley to make the score 1-0.

In the third inning, the Lady Blazers posted two more runs to go up 3-0 over LSUA. After a pop out by Keresa Steichen, Maldonado singled and Webb reached on another Lady General error. Both runners then advanced on a wild pitch and scored on an Eggold single. In the bottom of the fourth Tiffany Ansley singled, moved to third on a pair of illegal pitches and crossed the plated on a base hit by Steichen.

The Lady Generals came away with a run in the top of the fifth and two more in the top of the six inning cutting the Belhaven lead to 4-3. However, the Lady Blazers had an answer as Meadows launched her 10th home run of 2009 to give Belhaven an insurance run heading into the seventh inning. Belhaven starting pitcher Ashley Mottola then set the Lady Generals down in order in the seventh to lock up the win.

Mottola improves to 7-5 on the year by allowing just three wins on four hits. Eggold led the offense with 2 RBI's while Meadows and Steichen drove home one run each.
