Harvre, MT-It was a tough night for the Belhaven women's basketball team Wednesday at Montana State University-Northern, losing to the Skylights 82-50. The Lady Blazers suffer their third loss of the season and now stand at 7-3 overall. Montana State-Northern improves to 6-7 overall.

Belhaven's defense could not solve the Skylight offensive attack as they hit 71 percent of their first half field goals in route to a 42-32 lead at halftime. The Lady Blazers struggled in the first half going 10 for 28 from the field for a field goal percentage of 36 percent.

Despite a slow first half, the Lady Blazers were down by just 10 points at half. However, he Skylights didn't leave anything to doubt in final 20 minutes s they continued to drill shot after shot. They hit 57 percent of their field goals in the second half and dropped in 13 of their 17 free throw attempts. On the other hand, the Lady Blazers still had trouble mustering any kind of offensive rhythm. Belhaven made just 6 of their 30 field goal attempts in the final period.

Jira Williams had 13 points and seven rebounds to pace the Lady Blazers. Holly Dial added 11 points in the contest for Belhaven. For the game, the Lady Blazers shot 28 percent from the field and 31 percent from three point range. The Lady Blazers also had a hard time grabbing rebounds as the Skylights had the advantage on the glass 41-23.

Montana State-Northern had four players in double figures led by Danielle Trower with 16 points. Kaylee Shaw added 13 points followed by Samm Schrmele with 11 and Taylor Keller with 10. Stacie Barker pulled down a game high 14 rebounds for the Skylights. Montana State-Northern nailed 64 percent of their shots and 77 percent of their free throw opportunities in the game.

The Lady Blazers will be back in action at home on January 2nd against East Texas Baptist University in the Belhaven Classic. The tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
