Christie Barber

Christie Barber is in her 18th year as Head Cross Country Coach for both the men's and women's teams at Belhaven. A 1997 graduate of Belhaven, Barber was a Cross Country team member for the Blazers during her time at the college.

Over her 16 seasons leading Belhaven, the Blazers have had over 75 Conference All-Academic selections, 19 NAIA Scholar-Athletes, five NCCAA Scholar-Athletes and 13 All-Conference selections. Additionally, Barber has coached eight NAIA National Championship individual qualifiers and three NCCAA National Championship individual qualifiers. 

In 2015, the women's cross country team qualified for a national championship as a team for the first time in program history. The Blazers participated in the 2015 NCCAA National Championships in Houghton, N.Y., finishing in 17th place. In 2016, both women's and men's team competed in the NCCAA National Championships as the event was hosted by Belhaven. 

In 2008, Barber was named both the GCAC Coach of the Year and a GCAC All-Conference selection, competing for Belhaven as a graduate student. 

Coach Barber continues to run competitively, winning the women’s division of the Mississippi Marathon in 2001 and 2003. Barber is a resident of Crystal Springs, Mississippi. She teaches elementary students in addition to coaching at Belhaven.
