Achord, a senior from Brookhaven, MS, was named Mid-South Conference Player of the Week after making 21 total tackles including 13 solo tackles and two tackles for a loss in a 21-13 win over Bethel. Achord is averaging 8.5 tackles per game, is second on the team in total tackles with 34, and is tied for the team lead in solo tackles with 22. He also has a half sack, interception, and a fumble recovery in 2009.
