Belhaven sophomore Dagan Nations has been named the C Spire Athlete of the Week, following his performance at the Rhodes 7-Way Invitational in Memphis, Tenn.

Nations broke a nearly two-year-old school record in the hammer throw. The sophomore finished second of 12 throwers in the event, clearing 43.46 meters, shattering the record of 40.35 meters, set by Logan Walters at the Mississippi College Choctaw Open on April 18, 2015. 

In the shot put, the Clinton, Miss. native cleared 11.24 meters for seventh place out of 14 finishers, while winning the flight with that throw. 

The Belhaven men's and women's track and field teams return to action on April 21, traveling to Abilene, Texas to compete in the ASC Championships.
