JACKSON, Miss. - Belhaven second baseman
Meg Garton has been named the C Spire Athlete of the Week, following her performances against Huntingdon College and Texas Dallas.
Garton helped lead the Blazers to a 4-1 week, recording two home runs, six RBI, seven runs scored, a .429 batting average, .692 on-base percentage and 1.286 slugging percentage.
The junior from Overland Park, Kan. reached base and scored a run in all five of the Blazers games. She also scored the winning run in Belhaven's 2-1 win over No. 18 Texas Dallas
For the season, Garton leads the Blazers in home runs (2), runs scored (8), RBI (8), walks (6), on-base percentage (.438) and slugging percentage (.565).
The Green and Gold return to the diamond this weekend, traveling to Austin, Texas for a three-game series with ASC opponent Concordia University Texas.
