Belhaven guard Ron Davis has been selected as the C Spire Athlete of the Week following his performances on the court last week against Millsaps College and Covenant College.

Davis scored a season-high 20 points, including 15 in the second half alone, on 6-13 shooting on Thursday as the Blazers lost a close battle to rival Millsaps, 63-56. The junior from Edwards, Miss. added four rebounds and two steals while draining seven free-throws in nine attempts. 

Davis followed up that performance with a 15-point, four-assist game versus Covenant on New Years Eve. The Raymond High product was 2-4 from downtown and added three rebounds and one block. 

For the season, Davis ranks fourth in the American Southwest Conference (ASC) in assists per game (5.4), fifth in assist/turnover ratio (2.3) and ninth in free-throw percentage (.800). 

The Blazers men's basketball team heads to Birmingham, Ala. Tuesday to face Huntingdon College before returning home to host Howard Payne on Thursday and Sul Ross State on Saturday.
