JACKSON, Miss. - Belhaven guard Sierra Pittman was selected as the C Spire Athlete of the Week following her performances on the court over the weekend against McMurry and Hardin-Simmons.Â
In Belhaven's close battle with McMurry, Pittman scored 23 points on 7-of-14 shooting. 13 of her 23 points came in the first half.Â
The Blazers then wrapped up their Abilene road trip with Hardin-Simmons, where Pittman posted a career-high 27 points in the Blazers 75-65 victory over the Cowgirls.Â
The Mobile, Ala. native shot 10-for-14 from the field, including a perfect 5-for-5 in the first half.Â
The senior completed the weekend with a 17-for-28 performance from the field, good for 60.7 percent, and finished with 50 points. Pittman also went 16-for-23 (69.5 percent) from the free throw line, while dishing out six assists.Â
Pittman and the rest of the Blazers return to Jackson for its final three non-conference games of the 2016-17 season. The Blazers will take on Birmingham-Southern on Wednesday, Dec. 28, and will follow up with a trip up Riverside Drive to take on the Majors of Millsaps College on Thursday, Dec. 29. The week will conclude with Covenant (Ga.) on Dec. 31 at 2 p.m. inside Rugg Arena.Â
