JACKSON, Miss. - Belhaven jumper CJ Bridges was selected as the C Spire Athlete of the Week following his performances at the Birmingham-Southern Indoor Icebreaker on Dec. 2.Â
The Biloxi, Miss. native competed in two events: the long jump and triple jump. The freshman cleared 6.52 meters (21' 4.75") for a 10th place finish out of 26 competitors from NCAA Division I, II and III. Among non-Division I opponents, he finished 3rd of 14 jumpers.
In the triple jump, the Biloxi, Miss. native cleared 12.99 meters (42' 7.5") in the event.Â
With his performances in the two events, Bridges helps add the long jump and triple jump as the 14th and 15th events for the now third-year indoor program and fourth year overall Belhaven Track and Field program.Â
Bridges and the rest of the Blazers return to action on Feb. 4 to compete in the Jim Green Invitational, hosted by Illinois College. Â
