JACKSON, Miss. - Belhaven quarterback Hunter McEachern was named the C Spire Athlete of the Week following his performance on the gridiron in Saturday's regular season finale against Howard Payne.

McEachern went 37-for-51 on the day for 428 yards with six touchdowns, and his 72.5 percent completion rating is the best this season.

The six touchdowns in a game ties a school record last set on Nov. 7, 2009 by Jerred Wallace against Shorter.

Of the 10 games he has started under center for the Green and Gold, McEachern totaled 300 or more passing yards eight times and 400 or more passing yards six times.

On the rush, McEachern ran the ball six times for 35 yards.

With the regular season in the books, the Keller, Texas native broke three different school season records, including pass attempts (574), pass completions (337) and touchdowns (31). He finished second-best in school history in season passing yards with 3,722, missing the school record set in 2003 by Brian Zbydniewski, who recorded 3,888 yards.
