JACKSON, Miss. - Junior forward Carmine Caruso has been named the C Spire Athlete of the Week following his performance in Saturday's 1-0 overtime victory against the Ozarks. 

In the 92nd minute, Kobe Van Someren broke past the Ozarks defense and fired a shot on goal from 10 yards out. Eagles goalie Luis Mena was able to deflect the shot but the rebound came right back to Van Someren, who sent a cross into Carmine Caruso streaking down the center of the field. Caruso headed Van Someren's pass into the bottom left corner of the goal, winning the game for the Blazers. 

This was the first career goal for the Adelaide, Australia native. 

Caruso and the rest of the Blazers return to the field on Saturday with three straight home matches to wrap up the 2016. The Green and Gold will take on Louisiana College Saturday evening at 5:30 in the Belhaven Bowl Stadium.
