JACKSON, Miss. - Belhaven men's soccer player Nicolas Cornejo has been named the C Spire Athlete of the Week following his performance in the Blazers' 1-0 victory over Mary Hardin-Baylor on Saturday Sept. 17.

Cornejo scored the game-winning goal in the 87th minute to defeat the Crusaders on Saturday. 

The senior forward from Santiago, Chile has recorded a team-high three goals for the season. Cornejo also leads the Blazers in total shots (6), shots on goal (4) and shots on goal percentage (.667). 

The win over Mary Hardin-Baylor was the first of the 2016 season for the Green and Gold. The Blazers will look to make it two in a row when they host Hardin-Simmons University on Thursday, Sept. 22 at 7:30 p.m.
