JACKSON, Miss. - Belhaven women's soccer player Amber Thomas has been named the C Spire Athlete of the Week following her performance in the Blazers' 2-1 victory over LaGrange College on Thursday, Sept. 8. 

Belhaven trailed LaGrange 1-0 at the end of the first half, but Thomas found the back of the net 13 minutes into the second half to tie the game, and in the 79th minute of play she assisted on Jessica Mahoney's game-winning goal.

The junior midfielder recorded five total shots and three shtos on goal in the win over the Panthers. For the season, Thomas has tallied four shots on goal in six shot attempts for a .667 shots on goal percentage. 

The Green and Gold will look to keep the winning going when they travel to Texas this weekend to kickoff conference play. The Blazers face Concordia University Texas in Austin on Friday at 2 p.m., and will then travel to Belton on Saturday to take on Mary Hardin-Baylor at 2 p.m.
