JACKSON, Miss. – Belhaven Track and Field athlete Brooklyn Schumaker has been named the C Spire Athlete of the Week following her performance during the American Southwest Conference Track and Field Championships in Abilene, Texas.
Schumaker finished second in the 400 meters, setting a new school record with a time of 58.26.
The Moscow, Idaho native also broke the school record with the second-fastest time in the 800 meters, with a 2:22.66, breaking the school record of 2:23.08 she set a couple of weeks ago at the Rhodes 6-Way Invitational.
Up next, the Blazers will compete in the Mississippi State Invitational in Starkville. The meet is scheduled for Saturday, April 30.
