JACKSON, Miss. – Belhaven Baseball player Tanner Cable has been selected as the C Spire Athlete of the Week following his performance this past week ending February 26, 2016.
Tanner Cable led the Blazers by throwing eight strong innings in the second game of the doubleheader against McMurry. Cable also allowed two hits, one unearned run, three walks, and 14 strikeouts.
The Belhaven Baseball team earned the series win over the weekend, splitting Friday's doubleheader against the War Hawks before taking the series in the rubber match on Saturday.
In Cable's two starts, he has posted a 2-0 record with a 2.57 ERA and has fanned 26 batters. He has also posted a .140 batting average against.
Tanner Cable was also recognized with the NCCAA National Player of the Week Honors for his efforts in the series against the War Hawks.
Cable and the rest of the Blazers return to action on Friday, as they host Sul Ross State in their first conference series of the season. The home opener is slated for 4 p.m. at Smith-Wills Stadium.
