JACKSON, Miss. – Josh Carpenter has been selected as the C Spire Athlete of the Week following his performance from this past week, ending January 16. Carpenter led the Blazers in scoring in both games, including a career high performance.
In Belhaven's game against Louisiana College on Thursday, Carpenter led the Blazers with 21 points. The senior was 10-of-11 from the free-throw line in the game and also added four rebounds, five assists, and a steal.
Carpenter followed it up with a career high performance against East Texas Baptist. The Hattiesburg, Mississippi native hit three from behind the arc and nine total shots from the floor to finish with a career high 28 points. Carpenter added four more rebounds along with an assist and a steal.
The senior finished the week with 49 points, while also grabbing eight rebounds, six assists and two steals over the two games.
Carpenter and the rest of the Blazers will travel to LeTourneau University on Thursday and then head to the University of Texas at Tyler to wrap up the week’s events on Saturday.
