JACKSON, Miss. – Junior linebacker Stefon Hayles was selected as the C Spire Athlete of the Week following his performance on Saturday, November 7 versus Sul Ross State.
Hayles finished the defensive battle against the Lobos with 11 tackles, including three tackles for loss. He also found the quarterback twice in the Blazers' 12-6 victory. In total, he pushed the Lobos offense back 18 yards when he was on the field.
Saturday's performance also saw Hayles set and tie personal milestones. His three tackles for loss is a season high, as he finishes 2015 with 13 for the year.
Hayles' 11 tackles also tied the most for him this season. He also had 11 tackles in Week 1 at Millsaps. Hayles totaled 64 tackles in all of 2015.
Saturday's contest with the Lobos ended the 2015 season for the Blazers Football program. The 2016 season is set to kickoff at H.T. Newell Field on Thursday, September 1 when the seventh edition of the Riverside Rumble will commence against Millsaps.
