JACKSON, Miss. – Belhaven Golf Andy Bartelt has been selected as Belhaven University's C Spire Athlete of the Week following his performance last week.
Bartelt won the NCCAA Mideast Regional Wednesday to earn a bid to the NCCAA National Championship. Bartelt helped the Belhaven Golf Team make a strong charge Wednesday in the second round of the event, to finish second, one stroke behind Campbellsville, and earn an at-large bid to the NCCAA National Championships.
Bartelt's individual victory earned the senior an automatic berth in the National Tournament to be held in Panama City Beach, Florida on October 19-20.
Bartelt finished day one of the tournament in a tie for second, one stroke behind Pierce Dahl and even with James Higgins. Bartelt shot a +1 round of 73 on day two to finish the tournament at even par. Dahl shot a 75 on the day, while Higgins shot a 74, giving Bartelt a one stroke victory over the two Campbellsville players.
The Blazers will travel to Panama City Beach, Florida for the NCCAA National Championships next week.
