JACKSON, Miss. - Jefferson Nino has been named the C Spire Athlete of the Week, for the week of Mar. 23-29, after his performance in the Men's Tennis matches held at the Southern States Athletic Conference Round Up held in Mobile, Ala.

Nino, accounted for five wins in his six total matches played on the week in singles action and doubles action with fellow Blazers Daniel Prado and Laclan Puyol.

In singles play, Nino picked up three wins in the number position, defeating Mobile’s Lucas Tristao 6-1, 6-2 to start the week. Nino then defeated Coastal Georgia's Ramiro Vargas 6-3, 3-6, 6-0 later on in the day before topping Loyola's Trivesh Singh 6-0, 6-1 on the final day of the event.

In doubles action, Nino partnered with Prado to defeat Coastal Georgia's team of Robin Lucas and Daniel Rush 8-5.

The next day, Nino worked with Puyol to defeat Loyola's pairing of Ricardo Mercado and Anthony Zaleski 8-5.

Nino and the rest of the Men's Tennis team are scheduled to return to action on April 7 against Millsaps College.
