Belhaven University Athletics

This week's C Spire Athlete of the Week is Ashley Wakefield of the Belhaven women's basketball team. Wakefield, a senior from Garland, TX, had two solid games against a pair of top 25 teams this past week. She helped lead Belhaven to a 55-51 upset win over 24th ranked Auburn-Montgomery and kept the Blazers within striking distance of #16 Bethel University. Wakefield fired in 21 points and 17 points, combined to pull down 10 rebounds, and shot just over 50% from the field in the two games. Wakefield leads the Blazers in scoring at 13.7 points per game this season.
