One of this week's Blazer Athletes of the Week is Justin Gaines of the football team. Gaines rushed for a career high 250 yards and had two touchdowns in Belhaven's victory over Faulkner University. Gaines was the major factor in Belhaven setting a new school single game team rushing record of 323 yards. Gaines also had two receptions for 19 yards giving him 269 all purpose yards in the contest. Gaines continues to lead the NAIA in total scoring with 72 points and is second in the nation in scoring per game (12). Gaines is averaging 104.7 yards rushing per contest and 6.3 yards per carry. 11 of his 12 TD's have come on the ground. Gaines was also tabbed as the Mid-South Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
