Belhaven University Athletics

One of this week's "Cellular South Athletes of the Week" is Sarah Burns of the Blazer softball team. Burns, a senior from Edmond, OK, had an outstanding week for Belhaven leading the Blazers to four wins and the 2011 Southern States Athletic Conference Championship. Burns held opponents to just one earned run and struck out 28 batters in 24 innings of work. Burns was named the SSAC Tournament MVP. Burns season record now stands at 30-7 and in 226 innings she has struck out 230 batters. Burns was also named SSAC and NAIA National Pitcher of the Week.
