NORCROSS, Ga. – Jefferson Nino of the Belhaven's men's tennis team has been named the Southern States Athletic Conference Player of the Week for his efforts in matches this past week. The Blazers picked up wins in the SSAC quarterfinals and semifinals sending the team to the tournament final against Auburn-Montgomery on Monday. Belhaven is also ranked 14th in the latest NAIA Top 25 Poll.

Nino, a sophomore from Bogota, Columbia, went 2-0 in both singles matches and doubles matches against Lee University and William Carey University. Nino defeated Vincent Audy of Lee 6-0, 6-0 and teamed up with David Mejia to top Kevin Tan and Vincent Audy in doubles competition 8-4. Nino then picked up a 6-4, 6-4 win over Marthinius Visser of William Carey and once again teamed with Mejia to edge Jody Claasen and Edward Spillman 8-6 in a doubles match.

Nino is now 13-3 in singles matches and 12-3 in doubles competition heading into the SSAC Championship match at Auburn-Montgomery.
