Men's Tennis Adds Top Mississippi Player Flowers

JACKSON, Miss. – Men's Tennis head coach Levi Patton is pleased to announce his first signing for the 2013-14 season, grabbing Skyler Flowers from Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Flowers officially signed his letter of intent to play for the Blazers on Tuesday afternoon.

The Ocean Springs senior is the most decorated player in the state of Mississippi, having won three state championships and three 6A championships in his first three seasons at the school. Flowers won the doubles state title during his sophomore season and won the singles title in each of the past two seasons.

He will be looking for a three-peat entering his senior season down on the coast.

Flowers ranks as the No. 1 player in the state according to TennisRecruiting.net and is among the top 500 players in the country.

Coach Patton lit up when talking about his new recruit, “I have watched Skyler grow up as a junior player in Mississippi. He has developed a strong ground game and will be able to contribute immediately.”

“I am encouraged to see the top Mississippi juniors choosing Belhaven over other institutions in the state,” added Patton.

Flowers brings a strong work ethic and a desire to play immediately to a Belhaven team that is already among the deepest in the NAIA.
