Blazers Fall to #25 Oklahoma City University

Shreveport, LA-The Belhaven women's soccer lost to 25th ranked Oklahoma City University 8-1 Monday on the final day of the LSU-Shreveport Invitational. The Blazers took an early 1-0 lead, but after that the Stars scored eight unanswered goals to take control of the match.

Things look good early for Belhaven (1-2) as Christin Kaim gave the Blazers the 1-0 edge on her third goal of the season just over a minute into the match. She was assisted on the goal by Krista Brizeno who notched here first assist in the 2010 season. Unfortunately, it would be all Oklahoma City after that as they went on to score five first half goals and added three more in the final period to win the match.

Oklahoma City outshot Belhaven 23-8 and kept the Blazer at bay on offense. Meghan McMahon led the Stars offense scoring three goals on three shots to record a hat trick. She also added an assist and for the match and on the day increased her season point total by seven. Sarai Long played the first period in goal for Belhaven and suffered the loss allowing five goals while making three saves. Brittany Tibbs opened the contest in net for Oklahoma City allowing one goal while making two saves.

The Blazers will try and regroup on Saturday when they head to Texas College to battle the Steers. The kickoff is slated for 3:00 PM.
