Clinton, MS-The Belhaven men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Mississippi College Season Opener meet on Wednesday afternoon at Choctaw trails. The Blazer women finished 8th out of a 12 team field while the men also finished 8th in a nine team field. The women logged a team time of 20:51.37 in the 4k event and the men compiled a team total time of 21:10 in the 5k run. Grambling State University won both the men's and women's events with times of 1:24:26.93 and 1:26:02.27 respectively.

For the Blazer women, Hannah Reese turned in the top time crossing the line in 19:17 minutes for a 33rd place finish out of 83 runners. Sarah Storment was 35th with a time of 19:32 followed Sarah Rivera (50th), Seraphine Lin (58th), and Sarah McCallister (59th).

On the men's side, Luke Lennon was Belhaven's top finisher with a time of 19:17 which was good for 33rd place. Peter Davis crossed the lined right behind Lennon in 34th position with a time of 19:18. Robert Ricks ended up 55th followed by Andrew Sinclair (60th), and Michael Hawkins (61st). The men's field was comprised of 74 total runners.

The Blazers men and women will both be back in action at the Loyola University Invitational on September 11th. The women's race starts at 8:00 AM followed by the men at 8:35 AM.
