Blazers Take 5th at Mississippi College Opener

Clinton, MS-The Belhaven men’s cross country team finished fifth out of eight teams at the Mississippi College Opener Tuesday afternoon to begin the 2009 season. The Blazers completed the meet with an overall team time of 1:41:46.24. The University of Louisiana-Monroe won the event followed by Mississippi College, Mississippi Valley State, and Millsaps rounded out the top four.
Belhaven was led by Thomas Kazery with an overall finish of 22nd and a time of 18:03.30 in the 5k race. Douglas Coker and Peter Davis finished 30th and 31st with times of 18:55.20 and 18:59.13 respectively. Andrew Sinclair completed the course in 39th position with a time of 21:28.92 while Sonny Gunn checked in with a time of 24:19.69 which placed him in 49th position.
Belhaven’s next meet will take place on Saturday night when they compete in the Christian Brothers University Twilight Classic beginning at 9:20 PM.
