Ortiz Invited to Saints Rookie Mini Camp

Jackson, MS-Former Belhaven defensive end Eric Ortiz has been invited by the New Orleans Saints to participate in their Rookie mini-camp May 8th-10th.
Ortiz led the Blazers in sacks with 8.5 and tallied 13.5 tackles for a loss which was second on the team. He also had 65 total tackles for the Blazers and ranked 11th in the NAIA in sacks per game averaging around one per contest. Ortiz was selected as a member of the 2009 Mid-South Conference Defensive All Conference for his efforts during the 2008 campaign.
Ortiz was impressive in his Pro Day workout at Velocity Sports earlier this spring. Ortiz, along with teammates Anthony Embry and Andrew Carcich participated in the event.
