Jackson, MS-Senior Linebacker Reginald Lumpkin was recognized on Monday night at the River Hills Country Club by the Jackson Touchdown Club as Belhaven’s Top Senior player in 2009. Lumpkin was one of 10 players to receive this honor which is given to one senior player from each of Mississippi’s four year College’s and University’s that play football.

Lumpkin, a native of Magnolia, MS, is Belhaven's all time career tackles leader with 292. He also broke the Belhaven single season tackles record with 111 during the 2009 campaign. To go along with his 111 tackles, Lumpkin recorded 6.5 tackles for a loss and had one interception this past season. Lumpkin was also one of the leading tacklers in the NAIA ranking 12th in tackles per game at 10.1 each time he took the field.

The Blazers ended the year with an overall record of 6-5 which was a four game improvement from a season ago. Belhaven finished the season 6-5 overall, which was their first winning season since 20066, went 4-2 in the Mid-South Conference Western Division and have a lot to build on as they get ready for 2010.
