Jackson, MS-The Belhaven College volleyball teams defeated Spring Hill College in four games 25-16, 19-25, 25-19, and 25-20 on Saturday afternoon in Rugg Arena.

For the second match in a row, Christina Jaques paced the Blazers on the offensive side of the net with 12 kills followed by Kourtney Clark and Taylor Williams who each contributed 10 kills. Williams hit at an outstanding 42 percent for Belhaven while Erin Bradley led the Blazers with 39 assists and Kourtney Clark added three aces.

The Blazers played exceptional defense and were led by Christina Atwood with 19 digs. Sam O’Malley also contributed 13 digs followed Williams and Jaques who each supplied 12 digs. Jaques paced the Blazers with two solo blocks and Christina Atwood tallied two blocking assists.

As a team, the Blazers had a total of 47 kills, 42 assists, four aces, 71 digs, three solo blocks, and six blocking assists. Saturday’s win advanced the Blazers to 17-17 overall and 5-4 the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference.

The Blazers will battle it out Thursday night in a Gulf Coast Athletic Conference match against the University of Mobile in Rugg Arena. The first serve is slated for 7:00 PM.
