Jackson, MS-The Belhaven College volleyball team played in front of a jam-packed house Friday night in Rugg Arena as they defeated Millsaps College in three games 25-15, 25-23, and 25-20. The Blazers are now 16-17 on the season.

Offensively, Junior Christina Jaques paced Belhaven with 15 kills and had a total of 25 kill attempts with an overall hitting percentage of 52 percent. Freshmen Erin Bradley led the Blazer offense with 26 assists while Christina Atwood chipped in with two aces followed by Kourtney Clark and Jaques who both had an ace apiece.

Belhaven played great defensive throughout the entire match. Taylor Williams had a huge game with a team high 10 digs followed by Sam O’Malley and Jaques with nine digs each. Jaques, Clark, and Atwood each contributed one solo bock. Jaques also added six blocking assists and Bradley tallied four blocking assists for the Blazers.

Belhaven had a hitting percentage of 52 percent and recorded a total of 28 kills, 27 assists, four aces, 72 digs, three solo blocks, and 18 blocking assists in Friday’s win over Millsaps.

The Blazers will be back in action at home on Saturday afternoon with a Gulf Coast Athletic Conference match against Spring Hill College. Belhaven defeated the Badgers 3-1 earlier this season. The first serve is slated for 3:00 PM.
