New Orleans, LA-The Belhaven volleyball won team won for the fifth straight time Friday night with a 3-0 decision at Southern University of New Orleans in a Gulf Coast Athletic Conference contest. The set scores were 25-13, 25-22, and 25-12 as the Blazers had a strong start and finish in the match.
                          
Erinn Hampton, Taylor Williams, and Christina Jaques led the Belhaven offense with 10 kills, eight kills, and seven kills respectively. Jaques leads the team in kills this season with 310 and averages 2.74 kills per set. Erin Bradley continues to have an impressive freshman season recording 34 assists and six digs. Bradley, who was named GCAC Setter and Player of the Week last week, has compiled 977 assists and a team high 317 digs in 2009.
                   
Defensively, Williams joined Bradley with six digs while Hampton, Jessica Davis, and Samantha O’Malley chipped in with four digs each. Christina Atwood came up with a pair of solo blocks in Friday’s match.
 
With the win, Belhaven improves to 15-15 overall and 4-3 in the GCAC which is good for third place in the league standings. The Blazers will be back in action on Saturday afternoon at Dillard University for another GCAC showdown. The first serve is slated for 3:00 PM.
